UN – CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE IN DOHA

DOHA – Hoffnung, unzählige Artikel und der Klimawandel im Zentrum des Interesses. Jetzt, nachdem die Konferenz zu Ende ist, sind die Reviews in der Presse nicht gerade mit Enthusiasmus gespickt. Zynische Stimmen sagen, dass die Menschheit erst dann zum Handeln bereit sein werde, wenn die Folgen der Klimaerwärmung für alle offensichtlich geworden seien. Dann helfe ohnehin nur noch die Anpassung ans Unvermeidliche (http://www.nzz.ch/meinung/kommentare/bittere-bilanz-im-klimaschutz-1.17872461)

SANDY PLUNGES NYC INTO DARKNESS

Der Tag vor dem Sturm: Die Stadt ist wie ausgestorben, die Regale in den Läden leer geräumt. Die Bewohner von NYC bereiteten sich auf Sandy vor, Vorräte, Kerzen, Batterien für Taschenlampen. Sandy fegte über die Stadt hinweg. Wir hatten während Tagen keinen Strom, die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel waren lahm gelegt. Telefon, Computer, Ipad – Kommunikation war genau so lange möglich, wie der Aku noch lief. Und das ist bekanntlich nicht so lange…

Mein Beileid geht an all die Menschen, die in diesem Sturm Angehörige oder Freunde verloren haben. Und ich wünsche denjenigen Mut zum Wiederaufbau, denen Sandy einen grossen Sachschaden hinterlassen hat…

INCREDIBLE DAYS IN MOZAMBIQUE

I am thankful for this experience, thankful to SOLIDARMED, who gave me the chance to see the MAMA project on site in Mozambique. Whatever I expected, whatever I knew from all the informations I read before my journey – nothing can compare with what I actually saw during these days.

It is important to me, that people are aware of  the sometimes tragic situation not so far south from our home country. But not only the tragic situation but also incredibly beautiful moments made this journey an unforgettable one!
